Giving back to preserve Virginia's African American history and culture.
Take a look at this video to understand why we created the Adele Johnson Fund Supporting Untold Stories
Adele Johnson was a phenomenal leader in the Richmond community. In her role as the Executive Director of the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia, she told the untold stories, the undertold stories, and the forgotten stories of African Americans because she believed that it was America's history and we should tell a more complete, a more inclusive story..
Seeing the overwhelming response from the community with Adele's passing and knowing her passion for the purpose and longevity of the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia (BHM), we formed this organization to provide financial support. We've partnered with The Community Foundation of Richmond and the BHM board to establish this endowment.
Our mission is to sustain Adele Johnson’s legacy by preserving her endeavors at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia .
